Save big this Christmas as Woolworths slash prices in huge seafood sale

As the festive season approaches, the aroma of barbecued prawns, the quintessential Australian Christmas delicacy, fills the air.

This year, Woolworths is making sure that this beloved tradition doesn't break the bank. The supermarket giant has announced a massive sale on their seafood range, including a significant price drop on prawns, just in time for your Christmas feast.

Starting from 13th December until 26th December 2023, Aussies can enjoy their favourite prawns at Woolworths for $8 less per kilo compared to last Christmas.

This is a significant saving, especially for those planning a big family gathering around for the holiday season.

Tim Dudding, Woolworths Commercial Director for Seafood, said: 'It wouldn't be an Aussie Christmas without seafood. Our team has been working closely with our dedicated suppliers for the last 12 months to ensure Woolworths customers can enjoy quality seafood at great value as part of their festive spread.'

He added, 'This Christmas, we want customers to spend less at Woolworths, so we have dropped the price on a number of popular family seafood products, including smoked salmon and prawns.'

The Australian Green Banana Prawns, a crowd favourite, will be available for just $14 per kilo, down from $22 per kilo.

This limited offer is a fantastic opportunity for Aussies looking to save while still enjoying their favourite seafood.

But the savings don't stop at prawns. Woolworths is also offering discounts on other seafood classics. The Clearly Premium Smoked Salmon 500g, for instance, is available for $6 less—at a bargain price of $25.

Other prawn selections are also part of the sale. The Crystal Bay Australian Tiger Prawns are selling for $29 a kilo, down from its usual $33. A kilo bag of Australian Karumba Banana Prawns is available for $20, down from $26.

For those who fancy a bit of luxury, the Woolworth's Cooked Thawed Small Rock Lobster will return for $22, and the Moreton Bay Bugs can be purchased in select stores for $45 per kilo.

In addition to these fantastic deals, Woolworths is also launching a range of five new seafood products for Aussies to try and enjoy this year.

These include a Tasmanian Salmon Side with lemon myrtle and honey glaze for $23 and a three-pack of Lobster Tails With Australian Garlic and Herb Butter for $39. These products are available nationwide (excluding Tasmania).

That said, product availability may still vary depending on the state and Woolworths store.

This comes after it was reported that there’s an 'abundance of supply’ for seafood, with the price of high-quality Australian prawns dropping and making them a more affordable option for your holiday feast.

You can read more about that here.

So, whether you're planning a quiet Christmas dinner or a grand festive feast, make sure to take advantage of these fantastic deals. After all, what's an Aussie Christmas without a plate full of delicious, succulent prawns?
