Samantha Armytage’s heartfelt message on the loss of her mum

For many of us, the death of a loved one is something we have to deal with at some point in our lives. And even though it's always a difficult and painful experience, time does eventually help to heal those wounds.

But for Australian TV personality Sam Armytage, the pain of losing her mother is still very fresh.

On Thursday, exactly two years after her mum, Libby, passed away, Armytage took to Instagram to share an emotional message in tribute. The former Sunrise co-host and Farmer Wants A Wife guest star lost her mum on Melbourne Cup Day in 2020 – just 10 days before Libby's 69th birthday.

The TV presenter quoted author Kathleen Hart in a post she shared in memory of her mother, which said: 'Live calmly in the moment and you observe the beauty of all before you. The future will take care of itself.'

She also added her personal message, writing: 'Remembering my wonderful mumma today (& every day)... 2 years since she attained angelic status.'

The death of the beloved mum was announced by a heart-wrenching Instagram post by Armytage in 2020, as she wrote: 'Last Tuesday afternoon, a little while after the Melbourne Cup was run, our beautiful mumma passed away.'

'She had fought bravely for a long time and suffered a lot - but finally, her big-loving heart just couldn’t do it anymore.'

'Mums are the centre of a family and losing ours has thrown us all in a spin and left a huge, irreparable hole in each of our hearts.'

'We are very, very sad.'

'She was wonderful: kind, loving, loyal, wildly wicked, funny and formidable.'

Armytage also shared a photo of her mother's rose garden, her 'happy place'.

'She will be missed forever, but she’s at peace now… forever an angel,' she wrote in the caption.

'RIP Libby Armytage 13/11/51-3/11/20.'

Armytage previously revealed that her mother had a heart condition caused in part by an autoimmune disorder.

The Sunrise crew was devastated by Libby's passing and sent their star, who was grieving at the time, messages of love and support.

Grief is something that only time can heal. You never forget but at least you can remember with a smile and occasional tear.

There is a phrase I love ' you mourn through the night but in the morning you will dance.

When I lost my grandmother who was like my mother , she was my rock I felt like I lost my world, I cried for days until a friend of hers checked on me due to me being 28 weeks pregnant , she asked me , do you think your nan would want you like this ? Don't you think this would cause her pain knowing you were so sad .
She then told me to live the rest if my life like she would want me to.
Those were the words I needed to hear, she was a strong woman who raised a strong woman.

I hope someone can say these same words to Sam 🙏

I don't think time matters my mother passed away in 2001 if I talk about her or even think about her I get quite upset
Time really should heal us. I need to remember my nan and all the amazing times we had.
Still sometimes I do cry because I miss her, every birthday and every mother's day I say happy birthday / mothers day.
I tell my kids and grandchildren stories of her .
We need to be able to celebrate, share and remember their lives , to me this keeps her memory alive.
She passed away 2nd December 1991 , my daughter married 2nd December 2018 , she didn't realise it's was nan's anniversary until I told her but I decided to turn the worst date in my life to a good date .
I pray 🙏 that you can over come your sadness and remember your mum with a smile instead of tears
