Sam Mac is a WHAT?! Sunrise weatherman left flustered by X-rated question

We all know Sam Mac as the guy who brings us our daily weather forecast on Sunrise, but what you might not know is that he's also an author.

He released his memoir Accidental Weatherman back in 2019 detailing his journey from ‘hilarious Adelaide boy’ to being one of the most recognisable faces of Australia’s ‘highest rating breakfast TV show’.

Of course, aside from being a weatherman and author, he’s also a father! Most recently he welcomed a cute little bundle of joy named Margot into his family with his wife Rebecca James.

Now, it seems that since becoming a dad, Sam has developed something of a cult following among social media users who have taken to calling him a 'DILF'...

You see, in one question-and-answer session he held on his Instragam account, Sam Mac was asked by one user ‘Will you be writing a kids’ book, now that you’re a DILF?’

For those who don't know (we had to look it up too), DILF stands for 'Dad I'd Like To F***', and it's usually used by younger people to describe attractive older men they’d love to… well, you get the point! There’s not really any classy way to describe this one!

Fret not, mums! Just swap out ‘Dad’ for ‘Mum’ and you’d get the female equivalent, MILF.

Going back, Sam said: ‘Yes, it has always been an ambition of mine to write a children’s book - so that will happen one day.’

And ever the cheeky bloke, he admits he knew more than he let on about the acronym in choosing to answer the question!

‘I included this question because I was referred to as a DILF,’ he said, ‘Thank you... very much.’

To the delight of his fans, Sam also took time to answer more questions about his personal life.

‘How much do you miss (Rebecca) and Margot when you are away?’ one user asked.

He then responded by sharing a clip of Margot with Rebecca’s voice in the background saying ‘Good morning Dad, good morning.’

‘This gets me through.’ he said.

He shared in a separate question that he actually talks with Margot as much as thrice a day whenever he has to be away for work, calling his talks with his daughter the ‘highlight of my day’.

We don’t blame you, Sam, she’s as cute as a button!

He also shared that he thinks of Rebecca’s family as ‘overachievers’ when another user asked how her brothers behaved when he came into her life.

In jest, Sam said: ‘(They’ve) all been friendly with me, but do I like them… not really.’

‘They’re all — how do I put this… overachievers.’ he said.

Believe it or not, he actually gave a reason why for each of Rebecca’s brothers!

‘Alright Tim, take a breath!’ he said of Rebecca’s eldest brother Tim, who has worn many hats as a radio producer, police officer, then firefighter to ‘serve and protect’.

Next up was Scotty James, snowboarding ace, 2018 Winter Olympics flag bearer of Australia, and the youngest winter Olympian in Aussie history.

‘He hasn’t done much, has he?’ Sam said.

He went on as he laughed: ‘Launched multiple successful businesses, yeah cool, Australia’s youngest winter Olympian…World champion at the offensively cool sport of snowboarding... two-time Olympic medalist…’

Point taken, Sam!

Last but not least was Rebecca’s third brother Sean, who Sam called a ‘slashie’ because of his multiple income streams.

‘He’s one of the world’s leading cinematographers/editors... he’s in demand worldwide... he gets major contracts worldwide… and he’s single!’

Key Takeaways

  • 'Sunrise' weatherman Sam Mac was quite flustered when one user asked him if he was ready to publish a book for kids now that he was a 'DILF'.
  • A 'DILF' is slang used by younger people meaning 'Dad I'd Like to F***' , which is used to describe attractive older males.
  • Sam thanked the user for the admiration, and confirmed he'd love to write a children's book in the future.
  • He also shared more details about his personal life, such as what he does to pass the time when away from his family and what how his wife Rebecca's family welcomed him.
Despite the long-winded answer, Sam eventually took on a slightly more serious tone and thanked Rebecca’s family for welcoming him with open arms.

‘What I was trying to say was that the family are incredible and honestly have accepted me like one of their own.’ he said.

If this story has got you wanting to read more about Sam Mac… be sure to check out his ongoing competition with Robert Irwin and the stunt he did that left some viewers’ hearts racing.

We know this is a bit cheeky, but do you agree that Sam Mac is a ‘DILF’? Tell us your thoughts below!

I think this question is one to be asked to the younger population.
I love his funny and out going personality but definitely would be a no to question asked

I needed a laugh , just tested positive to covid , woke up not feeling good .
Now I'm thinking how many children did I now infect.
And they say you no longer need to isolate 🤔

Bummer! I hope you feel heaps better really soon. I would still isolate if I was you, I'd be devastated if I passed it on to a loved one.:(

I'm all for isolating I've told everyone to stay away and keeping mostly in my room. I can't afford my youngest to get it. I've been asleep all day and it feels just as bad as my first time round
