What a beautiful photo ⛵🛟⚓💘
I'll never forget in the early 90s going to Fremantle in Perth to watch the launching of the Endeavour replica built/sponsored by Alan Bond..
It was a stunning display of beauty and craftsmanship and the sound as it hit the water was deafening but wonderful.
We then quickly drove to the foreshore further up the beach to watch it as it sailed off to sea..
The cheers of the people showed the respect people had for this magnificent ship!

Hi Deni67
Thank you for your comment. In 1994 we moved from Perth to Adelaide. the following is an excerpt from a book I am writing; Mr. Stork Delivering Megan and thought you might like it?

; I then said to Megan, “Do you remember when we went to the entry of Port Adelaide Harbour and we stood on the big rocks, with thousands of other people, I had my big VHS video camera set up on my big try-pod stand and you were sat on the rock at my feet. His Majesties Bark Endeavor replica ship was coming in, with the two Port Adelaide tugboats leading. Their fire hose nozzles were squirting water high into the sky. There were lots of other boats of all sizes in the harbour entrance too. As the ship HMB Endeavor came in front of us, you said. “I have been on that ship Daddy!”

A lady stood on the rocks next to us then said, “I don’t think you have dear.” I replied to the lady “Excuse me but Megan has been on the ship, as we had watched it being built in the boat shed at the Fishing Boat Harbour in Fremantle. My Meggie was born in Perth and is a West Australian, Sandgroper!”

Take care and stay safe Deni67 God Bless!
Regards
SirExton Phil

When I was living in Eden NSW, I went for a three hour cruise on the Leeuwin from the port. She had stopped over on her way to Sydney with other sailing ships from the First Fleet Re-enactment during the Bi-Centenary celebrations. A few years later we were also able to have a tour of the Endeavour replica when she stopped over in Eden. Great times.
