Safety risk triggers urgent recall for Isuzu D-Max ute and Porsche 911 Carrera

In a world where safety is key, even the most popular vehicles aren’t exempt from heightened scrutiny and recalls if safety standards aren’t met.

One such incident involves the well-known Isuzu D-Max dual-cab ute, one of Australia's top-selling vehicles, which has been hit with an urgent safety recall.

The ute is a popular choice among Aussies, as almost 25,000 units were sold in the first 10 months of this year alone.

It ranks as the third best-selling ute, trailing behind the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger.

The D-Max also forms the base for the Mazda BT-50, sharing the same engine, transmission, and other mechanical elements.

The recall, issued by Isuzu and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, warned that the affected Isuzu vehicles could unexpectedly catch fire.

The defect lies in the fuel hose, which may rub against the engine oil level bracket and become damaged due to a manufacturing issue.

This may cause a fuel leak, which could ultimately lead to a vehicle fire.

'A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage to property,' the recall notice read.

The recall affects more than 8,000 vehicles built between 2021 and 2023.

Isuzu has urged affected owners to contact their nearest Isuzu dealership to schedule an appointment for the replacement of the fuel hose and retaining clips free of charge.

This is a necessary step to ensure the safety of all involved and to prevent any potential fires.

If you need more information, you can contact Isuzu on 1300 147 898 or at [email protected].

Meanwhile, Porsche has also issued a recall for its 911 Carrera sports car.

Around 250 vehicles are affected by a faulty airbag that may potentially deploy unnecessarily when triggered in the event of an accident.

The side airbag mounted in the seat has been affected by a programming issue, which increases the risk of injury to vehicle occupants if it deploys when it's not supposed to.

Owners are urged to contact their local dealership to arrange a repair free of charge.
Key Takeaways
  • An urgent safety recall has been issued for thousands of Isuzu D-Max dual-cab utes due to a fire risk.
  • The issue is due to a manufacturing defect where the fuel hose may rub against the engine oil level bracket, potentially causing a fuel leak and leading to a vehicle fire.
  • Over 8000 vehicles built between 2021 and 2023 are affected, and owners are urged to contact their nearest Isuzu dealership to schedule an appointment for a free replacement of the fuel hose and retaining clips.
  • A recall has also been issued for Porsche's 911 Carrera sports car due to a faulty airbag that could unnecessarily deploy in the event of an accident, affecting over 250 vehicles.

Why are the standards slipping 🤔 Australia 🇦🇺 has high quality standards and stuff like this is coming through biggest problem is Australian 🇦🇺 Government at the time killed of the car industry here to settle for imported vehicles 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

A rubbing fuel hose is very easy to find so anyone can fix that little problem. So many owners of the Isuzu 4WD would be able to fix that problem without any cost. Back many years ago there probably wasn't any major recalls like we get now, but the problem was probably fixed at your next service... So, no one was driving a dangerous car. it just had a fuel leak etc... but I'm lucky as I could never afford a PORSCHE so, I won't have the air bag problem. Really, computers have caused many of the problems they have with late model cars , along with the sensors they work with. A $10 sensor can cause a problem with thousands of cars these days. Plus even if You are handy and could fix any problem on an older car , You just aren't game enough to try to fix anything now, although many car owners do own a Car diagnostics scanning tool , which I have only just found out. But at least We are now told of any problem - whether large or small - actual or not. 68autobug Bugbuyer VK2LEE

They just don't make ém like they used to. Today ,a lot of people are just to lazy to double check things (or is it ''A.I''?) If it's A.I. ,then GOD HELP US ALL.

Yes, The Australian Car Industry was great for Australians. Renault - Volkswagen - Datsun - Volvo - Toyota - BMC - Leyland - Mitsubishi - all used to assemble cars etc here in Australia back in the 60's-70s etc plus Leyland & Mitsubishi - actually designed cars to be made here ONLY - Magna & P76 [6 cyl & V8] - plus BMC -Leyland also designed and built Austin 1800 Utility , Mini Moke , Leyland [6 cyl] Tasman & Kimberly plus Morris Marina [6 cyl] coupes & cars - Maybe I have missed some - plus the FORD HOLDEN CHRYSLER car makers& importers. After 2000 - Mitsubishi & Toyota also assembled cars in Australia - Closing the Mitsubishi plant near Adelaide , plus the Holden & Ford plants was a Disaster for workers. When I went thru the Mitsubishi factory around 2004 when they were making both RHD & LHD Mitsubishi 380 [Magnas]. I also drove one from Adelaide to Sydney and found them to be great cars. I believe I would have loved to have worked in a car plant. [not now knowing all the problems the workers had like being laid off etc] 68autobug Bugbuyer VK2LEE

Yes, not many people to check everything on a new car.. many parts of a car are assembled with ROBOTS.. plus many parts are NOT actually made by the car maker - electrical - Injectors - Filters- Headlamps- Tail lamps - instruments - etc plus all of those sensors that can cause many problems when the sensor tells a computer what it THINKS is happening. <Luckily We now have 5 years plus WARRANTIES - 68autobug - BUGBUYER VK2LEE

NOT MANY - as You don't see many on country roads at all , and the odd one in the cities.. They seem to be very troublesome... very complicated cars.. 68autobug - Bugbuyer - VK2LEE
Parts are also very expensive. My brother inlaw is a mechanic but only for these sort of cars and he charges a bundle. To repair them and even to service them us different to your normal car .

In Sydney driving one of these is like driving around saying take me. 😳
