The British Royal Family has been hit with a double health scare as Princess Kate and King Charles III both face medical challenges.

The news broke overnight, revealing that Princess Kate has been hospitalised following abdominal surgery, while King Charles III is set to undergo a procedure for an enlarged prostate.

Princess Kate was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, January 16, for a planned abdominal surgery.

'Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,’ they added.

The palace also expressed Kate's understanding of the public interest in her health but requested privacy during this time.

'She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,' the statement read.

The King, who ascended to the throne following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, is set to have a corrective procedure for an enlarged but benign prostate.

'In common with thousands of men each year, the King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate,' the palace said.

'His majesty's condition is benign, and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The King's public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation,' they continued.

The health scares come after speculations that the King will abdicate early in favour of Prince William and Princess Kate. With the Danish monarchy’s recent abdication, royal experts have suggested that the British monarch will follow suit.

‘It must make you wonder if, in five or ten years’ time, King Charles might think about doing the same if his health suffers or he just thinks it is a good time to pass on to William and Kate while they are still young,' Phil Dampier, a royal expert and biographer, said in an interview.

I noticed at Charles' Coronation when he was signing documents that he appeared to be getting a bit anxious and then suddenly walked out. Poor bloke was very likely desperate for a pee. Prostate has that effect on us men.

Very few surgeries of any kind require more than a few days in hospital these days unless there are complications or other medical problems discovered during surgery. Hopefully she is ok and recovers well. I suspect she may have had gastric banding or similar when she was out of the public eye for several months in 2020 I think it was. She came back looking much skinnier and her shoulder bones were very prominent in one of the dresses she wore after her return. She still looks boney in some gowns she wears that expose her shoulders and arms. Maybe she suffers from anxiety about her body and the comparisons some media make between her and Meghan, Mary and other young royals. Unnecessary as she has always been slim and beautiful, but she would feel under pressure to present a certain image to her public followers.

With such a long lay-off l thought a full hysterectomy though in today's age this can be done without an incision, therefore no sutures.

With surgeries these days, the hospital and surgeons don't want their patients to stay too long due to infections ie. staph. I was thinking a hysterectomy and the reason she's recuperating is because she's a princess, and presumably has a whole wing all to herself in that hospital.

Yes, I’m sure she would have the whole wing to herself and would have a lot of security people there as well. Even with hysterectomies these days patients get discharged after a few days, whether they have sutures or not. Maybe having 3 young children might have something to do with her staying in hospital longer as I’m sure she would want to get hands on if she went home. Hope she enjoys her down time being pampered, as much as she can after having surgery.
