How well I remember the show. Free sample bags with heaps of good stuff in them, the grand parade and in 1954 school kids danced for 4 nights in a row. I was one of them. The only problem was we had a star shaped torch in our pockets which had sharp points that stuck into our legs. When the torches were lit the people in the stands lit up their matches and lighters and it looked amazing.

My grandmother took me every year when it was at the Sydney show ground Moore Park.
I remember the excitement leading up to it.

Loved the hoadleys , licorice and cadbury showbags which were full of goodies . Every year my nan would say how thise bags were once free and how they were given as sample bags.

I never went home without a new kewpie.
doll to add to my collection.

Not sure why we purchased the bag first thing and those bags were paper and your day was then spent looking after them .

We would end our day in the Arena watching woodchopping and then the horses .

When the show moved to Homebush in 1998 it just didn't feel the same

Those memories we made have lasted a life time.

I was amazed how the men could chop so high up without falling off. I couldn't imagine them being game to do it today. lol

The trees they use are now protected so they have to use inferior trees which they are not happy about.😊

Many years ago my husband and I took our 4grandchildren,my husband wanted to see the pigs and piglets.after walking for what seemed miles and no pigs he decided to ask,no pigs this year he was told,so have you ever saw a man so sad because he felt he had let the kids down but there was always another year.

I actually followed the Show circuit between 1988 - 2010 working all of the majors. The Easter Show was the most gruelling, being originally 12 days when at Moore Park then extended to 16 days after the move to Homebush. We would arrive at 8am and finish at 10pm every day, after a 4 day set up. By the end of the last day we were like Zombies. Mind you, absolutely no regrets. 🤠
