Royal controversy deepens—what really happened at Sentebale?

Recent reports have uncovered new tensions surrounding the Duke of Sussex and a key figure at his charity, Sentebale.

Allegations of uncomfortable interactions and boardroom drama have emerged, sparking controversy and questions about the charity’s future.

This latest chapter in the ongoing dispute sheds light on a fractured relationship, with the stakes higher than ever.

The Duke of Sussex has faced new allegations following his exit from Sentebale’s patronage.

This fresh development involves a message he allegedly sent to the charity’s chairwoman, Sophie Chandauka.

Chandauka, who had been embroiled in a boardroom dispute with Harry, reportedly received a note from the Duke demanding an explanation.

The note was said to be ‘unpleasant’ in tone, with sources describing the language as ‘imperious’.

This latest twist came after Harry stepped down from his role as the charity’s patron, following a tense battle between him and the charity’s board.

Earlier, Chandauka had accused Harry of attempting to 'eject' her from her position through 'bullying' and 'harassment'.

A source close to former trustees and patrons dismissed her comments, calling them a ‘publicity stunt’.

This dispute reportedly began after a decision to focus fundraising efforts in Africa, which led to several trustees resigning.

Timothy Boucher, Mark Dyer, Audrey Kgosidintsi, Kelello Lerotholi, and Damian West all left, stating they had lost trust in Chandauka’s leadership.

Their resignations were described as ‘devastating’, but the trustees remained firm, putting the charity’s best interests first.

Chandauka’s role as chairwoman was further questioned after an incident at a Sentebale fundraising polo match last April.

During the event, the Duchess of Sussex appeared to direct where people stood, which led to an awkward moment when Chandauka moved away from Harry’s side to stand next to Meghan.

This incident involved a member of Harry’s team allegedly requesting that Chandauka issue a statement to quell rumours of tension with Meghan.

When she refused, it was claimed that Harry directly contacted her, demanding an explanation for her actions.

In the wake of this fallout, Harry and Prince Seeiso, who co-founded Sentebale with Harry in 2006, issued a joint statement supporting the departing trustees.

They announced they would step back as patrons ‘until further notice’, calling the breakdown of the relationship with Chandauka ‘devastating’.

Sentebale, which was founded in honour of Harry’s late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, supports children and young people in southern Africa, particularly those living with HIV and AIDS.

The Duke’s office declined to comment on the matter.
