Five apples are in a basket. How do you divide them among five girls so that each girl gets an apple, but one apple remains in the basket?

Give 4 girls 1 apple from the basket and give the 5th girl the basket with the remaining apple still in it.

Share the apples one for each girl and one of the girls should have the basket with the remaining apple

hand out one apple to each of 4 girls, the 5th apple that is still in the basket belongs to the 5th girl
