Now here's our first puzzle for the week, and it has a mystery to solve:

A man was found murdered on Sunday morning. The police questioned the wife and staff and got these alibis: The Wife said she was sleeping. The Cook was cooking breakfast. The Gardener was picking vegetables. The Maid was getting the mail. The Butler was cleaning the closet. The police instantly arrested the murderer.

Who did it, and how did they know?

The police arrested the Maid based on the information given. The reason for this is that the murder supposedly happened on Sunday morning, and the Maid claimed to be getting the mail. However, mail is not typically delivered on Sunday mornings, so her alibi didn't hold up. This inconsistency in her statement led the police to suspect her and make the arrest. Unfortunately, or fortunately for her, she had a good lawyer, and didn't say anything to police, so she had to be released... the couple had a Post Office Box!
