NO LUCK NEEDED, VELLA. )If there are 4 Humans (8 feet) and 16 horses ( 64 hooves ) OR 2 Humans (4feet) and 17 horses, ( 68 hooves....... etc, etc.) , you have 72 appendages at the ends of legs.

HOWEVER, WE ARE LOOKING FOR FEET, NOT HOOVES SO THERE ARE 36 HUMANS AND ANY HORSES HAVE THEIR HOOVES OUTSIDE AND THE FRONT OF THEIR BODIES FACING INTO THE STABLES. TRUST ME TO THROW A SPANNER INTO THE WORKS.

Also this can be played with a lot. If there are 2 men (4 feet), there would be 17 horses ( 68 hooves) . For each two men more you have, take away one horse.

There's actually LOTS of correct answers
Most are saying 8 men & 14 horses
2 men & 17 horses
4 men & 16 horses
8 men & 14 horses
10 men & 13 horses
12 men & 12 horses
14 men & 11 horses
16 men & 10 horses
18 men & 9 horses
so just keep increasing men by 2 and reducing horses by 1
