Could be a sewing needle, a fork, or a spider (it binds and sucks the blood from its prey), but then a protruding staple could be right (or in my wife's case, a pin left on the carpet - my fingers always find them - and they hunt in pairs!)
A stapler ("pointed fangs") would fit. "Bloodless victim" would be paper.
I opt for stapler! :giggle:
