G'Day Riddle Masters! And Happy Monday!

I hope you're all ready for the first riddle of the week because my oh my, it's a tough one! Here it goes:

Four tots were playing in the Kindergarten sandpit. “I notice that all of them but one has a number on his back," said a visitor. "Jack has 2, Benjamin 6, Leslie 6 and Brian 4. From those clues, I think I can deduce what number Terrence should carry." Can you?

Not an easy one to start the week with, but you know we love throwing in a challenging riddle!

The riddle does not make sense.
4 tots in the sandpit. Every one of them has a number,
Where does the statement "all but one has a number on his back" come from.
There is no mention of a fifth tot.
IF the riddle read 5 tots were playing...........
THEN the answer may be 6, but the way it is worded is incorrect.

I says that four tots were in the sandpit and then mentions four names.
Where does the fifth one belong ?

Terrence wasn't in the sandpit ....there were only four children in there, not five

Could be a few answers here.

- As there are 4 to start on the pit and there are 4 numbers allocated, Terence wouldn't have a number.

- Perhaps one of them has a number elsewhere, but not on his back.

- Ignoring the above, if you havevthe value of 2 for every vowel, you would give Terrence the number 6.
