Hopefully now they can afford to live outside of their tiny cages and roam FREE outside and at night time rest together in their purpose built large open Coops......now that would be money well spent.:)
On the one hand, yes, it's less stressful for the birds.

On the other, maybe not, that is the reason why so many chickens have caught bird flu from migratory birds resulting in entire flocks of chickens being killed off.

Generally not. The farmers are aware of the risks and most of them make sure they keep wild birds out.

But anti-chicken-farming advocates have been known to break into chicken sheds and leave the doors open, resulting in infected birds getting in.

Of course the resulting deaths of hundreds of chickens was used as evidence of mismanagement by the farmers.
