We all know how cluttered shelves can get if left unchecked. With overflowing clothes in your laundry basket and jam-packed pantry shelves, it’s easy to wish for more organisation and storage solutions for the whole home.

Well, Kmart has just the answer with a simple yet ingenious DIY. Interior stylist and Kmart shopper Dina Santos (@stylerev_dina_santos) recently showed off an incredible space-saving solution, and the best bit is it will only cost you $28! Who says that effective home organisation solutions have to be expensive? Not us!

Santos discovered a Chrome Pull-out Drawer Sliding Organiser from Kmart and DIY-ed it to fit her shelving unit. Instead of using it as-is, she disassembled the frame and used the sliding mechanism, which she attached to her shelves with a drill. Finally, she fastened a basket to the slider and created a stylish pull-out basket.

'I’ve been looking for a pull-out frame for my laundry basket drawer and I finally gave the Kmart one a go, being the perfect size and I’m so happy with the result and so easy to install,' she captioned the step-by-step process which is featured in a series of Instagram reels.

The chrome tray that came with the product was also repurposed and now resides in her garage. Seeing how useful and practical the drawers were, Santos also hasn’t stopped at the laundry room.

'I’m loving it. It is so good not to have to take everything to reach something at the back on the shelves. I think I need a couple more for a few of my kitchen cupboards,' she said in another post.

Judging by the comments, Santos is not the only one impressed with the Kmart product. Her followers have been showering her DIY with praise and saying they plan on buying their own.

'So good! We put them all in our kitchen about a year ago and they have held up so well,' one fan commented.

'Yes! These are so handy to have,' another said.

'I may have to invest in a couple of these, so practical!' enthused another.
