REVEALED: Why mums are cleaning their toilet area with shaving cream
- Replies 3
Even if you don’t use it for shaving your hair, did you know that there are still some good reasons to keep a can of shaving cream in your bathroom? So don’t throw it out yet!
While there’s not much difference between shaving foams, creams, and gels, all of them contain active ingredients such as surfactants, emulsifiers, and cleansing agents that are similar to the ones found in common household soaps.
Meaning, these cans can also come in handy whenever you’re in need of a quick cleaning solution.
Though, buying a whole can of shaving cream just for the sake of using it for cleaning around the house can tend to be pricey, so we don’t recommend adding it to your grocery list if you don’t really need it.
But if you have a can just sitting unused in your bathroom drawer, why not make the best out of it, right?
Here, we’re about to share with you folks what else you can do with a can of shaving cream!

In a popular Facebook group, a mum-of-three shared that she uses shaving foam to clean and deodorise the area around her toilet.
“Three boys in the house, includes a two and a three-year-old,” she wrote in her post. “Finished the first and smelt nice, so now on to the second bathroom.”
She posted photos of her process, showing how she sprayed and smeared a generous layer of shaving foam around the toilet area and the rim. She left it for about 10 to 30 minutes before she wiped it off with a mop and hot water.
Now, the mum is bragging that her toilet area is smelling fresh. Not to mention, it looks all good and clean, too!
In another popular Facebook group, a second mum shared that she tried the cleaning hack as well, but instead of 10 to 30 minutes, she left the shaving foam in her toilet area for about an hour and a half.
“The bathroom smells amazing right now!” she said. “Usually it still smells musty after a scrub so it’s definitely worked. All shiny and clean.”
Several other members applauded the hack, with some saying that the shaving foam even cleaned their bathroom floor and grout too.
One mum wrote: “The only thing that removes the wee smell. It’s a must for mums with boys!”
Another added: “This works a treat! Mum of four boys here!”
Meanwhile, some also warned that this hack may be effective, but leaving the foam on the floor for too long can make it hard to remove.
Do you have a can of shaving foam sitting in your bathroom too? It might be a good idea to try this hack!
