Recipe for the PERFECT golden hash brown – using only three ingredients!

Breakfasts and brunches with the family aren't complete without golden hash brown potatoes.

Hash browns are a delicious way to prepare potatoes that, when done correctly, make the ideal side dish for your favourite breakfast. Savoury and crispy, they're a classic mid-morning meal, breakfast-for-dinner, or late-night snack.

In this article, a skilled Australian baker has shared the recipe he uses to make hash browns at home that are both delicious and crispy.

Using only three simple ingredients, Bistro Morgan Bakehouse owner Morgan Hipworth promises that his homemade hash browns are superior to those sold at fast-food restaurants.

Here are the ingredients you will need::
  • 4 medium-sized crème royal potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons ghee (a type of vegetable butter)
  • 3 tablespoons corn flour
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

And here are the steps on how to make them:

To start the recipe, begin by washing, peeling, and grating the potatoes. Then, place the grated potatoes in a bowl filled with cold water and set the timer for 20 minutes.

Squeeze out any excess water and lay the food out to dry on a tray that has been lined with paper towels.

After that, put the potatoes in a pan with three tablespoons of ghee and cook them over low heat for ten minutes, or until the potatoes are all soft and tender. Add salt and pepper to taste.

After the potato has been cooked, place it in a bowl and add three tablespoons of corn flour to the mixture.

Make them into pieces in the shape of hash browns by moulding them with your hands, and then place those pieces on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper. Put in the freezer for twenty minutes so that it can set.

After the potatoes have cooled off, cook the hash browns in a deep fryer (or a pan filled with oil) at 180 degrees Celsius for two minutes on each side, or until the hash browns are golden brown on both sides.

Drain and season them with salt, and then they're ready to be served. Enjoy!
