Recall alert: Is this Supercheap Auto spray paint putting your safety at risk?

Spray paint is a common and useful product found in many Australian homes.

However, a recent recall of a specific batch sold at auto parts giant Supercheap Auto is an important safety reminder to always handle spray paint carefully.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) Product Standards Australia has issued a recall for MotorActive ColorSpec Base Coat Colour 300g aerosol cans with batch number 353221 due to fears the valve could prematurely detach from the can during use.

According to the recall notice: 'There is a risk of serious injury if the valve or can separates and becomes a projectile or from the paint ejecting from the can under pressure.'

'This could injure people or damage items in close proximity of the can.'

Those who purchased the affected MotorActive paint from Supercheap Auto stores are encouraged to stop using the item and check the base of the can for the affected number.

To receive a complete refund, return the packaged product to the nearest Supercheap Auto store.
