Queen Mary goes undercover in her recent holiday break

The world often turns their eyes to the grandeur and spectacle of royal engagements

Yet, sometimes, it's a treat when we hear of the quieter moments from royalty.

Recently, Queen Mary of Denmark visited The Land Down Under on a trip that managed to stay under the radar.

Queen Mary, who ascended to her royal title alongside King Frederik X in Copenhagen, was spotted soaking up the Sydney sunshine at Bronte Beach.

Dressed casually in black shorts, a black top, and a cap, the 52-year-old monarch enjoyed the famous Bondi to Bronte coastal walk.

Along with Queen Mary were her daughter, 13-year-old Princess Josephine, and her long-time friend Amber Petty.

Queen Mary's surprise appearance in Sydney was a delight, as she enjoyed the simple pleasures of Australian life.

The Danish royal family is no stranger to the affection of the public.

However, this visit was markedly different, with King Frederik and the other children notably absent.

As of writing, the Crown Prince Christian is on an extended break in Africa.

Prior to her marriage with King Frederik X, Queen Mary spent most of her life in Hobart, Tasmania.

Her father, 82-year-old John Donaldson, was not able to travel to Denmark for the royal ascension due to his age and health concerns.

Queen Mary likely wanted to spend some time with her father, as evidenced by a touching photograph she shared on her 52nd birthday.

The Queen has travelled to the country on several occasions—both for official duties and private time.

Last year, she and her children enjoyed climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and later travelled to Tasmania and New Zealand.

Her last official duty in Australia was on 28 April 2023 while promoting sustainability and green energy in Sydney's CBD.

While their recent visits have been private, many speculate that King Frederik X and Queen Mary will return for formal engagements next year.

Their last official tour in Australia was in 2013.

Recently, King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla went on a tour around Australia and nearby Commonwealth countries.

The Duchess of York also had several engagements in Western Australia and Sydney.

With these visits, it's clear that Australia holds a special place in the hearts of royalty.

The media won't let them have a private life. Queen Mary can't even arrive in Australia to visit her family. I wonder if she approved this photo being published. This is not an official visit.

Queen Mary deserves all the accolades she gets.

Speaking of the British ones, my daughter had been living and working in London and came home to Melbourne for a holiday too and I met her at Tullamarine. We were driving home on the motorway when we were surprised to see ZERO vehicles on the other side, and what seemed to be armed soldiers on the walkways and bridges over the road. Just then a motorcade came past and we realised it was the Queen and Prince Philip making a royal visit. My daughter said,”I live in London for two years and I have to go to Australia to see the Queen!”
