Queen Mary, who ascended to her royal title alongside King Frederik X in Copenhagen, was spotted soaking up the Sydney sunshine at Bronte Beach.
Dressed casually in black shorts, a black top, and a cap, the 52-year-old monarch enjoyed the famous Bondi to Bronte coastal walk.
Along with Queen Mary were her daughter, 13-year-old Princess Josephine, and her long-time friend Amber Petty.
Queen Mary's surprise appearance in Sydney was a delight, as she enjoyed the simple pleasures of Australian life.
The Danish royal family is no stranger to the affection of the public.
However, this visit was markedly different, with King Frederik and the other children notably absent.
As of writing, the Crown Prince Christian is on an extended break in Africa.
Prior to her marriage with King Frederik X, Queen Mary spent most of her life in Hobart, Tasmania.
Her father, 82-year-old John Donaldson, was not able to travel to Denmark for the royal ascension due to his age and health concerns.
Queen Mary likely wanted to spend some time with her father, as evidenced by a touching photograph she shared on her 52nd birthday.
The Queen has travelled to the country on several occasions—both for official duties and private time.
Last year, she and her children enjoyed climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and later travelled to Tasmania and New Zealand.
Her last official duty in Australia was on 28 April 2023 while promoting sustainability and green energy in Sydney's CBD.
