A professional cleaner from Melbourne has shared an industry secret to sparkling, streak-free windows.
Kacie Stephens, who operates under The Big Clean Co, claimed that professional cleaners would never use supermarket glass cleaners like Windex to clean windows.
The cleaning expert mixes concentrated dishwashing liquid and water on the sink and uses the mixture to wipe the windows clean. Photos from TikTok / thebigcleanco.
As shown in her TikTok video, the Aussie mum wipes glass surfaces with a mixture of concentrated dishwashing liquid and water, then squeegees it off for a squeaky clean and smudge-free finish.
Thousands of viewers were quick to approve of the cleaning hack.
“Used to do professional cleaning, I can confirm this. Nothing better for cleaning windows,” wrote one user.
“It really works, amazing!” Said another.
One fan even thanked Kacie for her cleaning tips, “I have been using all of your tips, and my house has never been so clean!”
Kacie’s TikTok page became a viral success for her helpful and simple cleaning tips.
Meanwhile, on her Instagram page, she shared another cleaning tip. This time, it’s about deep cleaning your fridge.
Kacie said deep cleaning your fridge every once in a while is essential. This allows you to take stock of all the items you have and are not using.
“Deep cleaning a fridge,” she wrote in the video caption. “Sometimes it's got to be done, and everything has to come out.”
The professional cleaner started by removing everything from her fridge. Then, she got rid of anything expired or unused.
Kacie explained that you have to “be ruthless and get rid of anything you will not use”.
Once everything had been sorted, she proceeded to remove all of the shelves and drawers to put them in the sink for a deep soak.
“Wipe the whole thing down with dishwashing liquid - you might need a lot of cloths,” she said.
“Use a toothbrush to get into those hard-to-reach corners.”
She finished by saying: “Then, dry the whole thing off and let the angels sing because this is beautiful.”
The final step is putting everything back inside the fridge. At this point, she suggested devising a schedule to use up all of your fresh produce properly.

Every use
- Make sure your fridge's contents are loaded in a way that lets air circulate.
- Check that the door is closed correctly. This is especially true for the freezer door - otherwise, your food will thaw out, your energy use will go through the roof, and it will cause frost to form, even in a frost-free freezer.
- Clean external surfaces with either soapy water, an all-purpose cleaner or a soft damp cloth.
- Glass finish or stainless steel fridges can also be wiped down with methylated spirits or window cleaner.
- Wipe down door seals and contact points with a soft damp cloth to remove grime and ensure a good seal.
- Pull out the shelves and crisper and give them a clean with warm soapy water.
- This is also a good time to audit your fridge contents and bin anything that's gone bad.
- Roll your fridge out of its enclosure and clean behind and under it.
- Check internal temperatures with a thermometer and adjust the controls to compensate for changes in ambient temperature.
- For old or retro style fridges, clean and dust the external condensers at the back of the refrigerator.
- For manual defrost fridges and chest freezers, defrost and clean the freezer compartment once more than half a centimetre of ice has formed.
- Audit the contents of your freezer and dispose of anything unidentifiable or that predates civilisation.
- Check and replace your water filter if necessary.
- Check the door seals for wear and replace if necessary.
