Product Safety Australia recalls popular travel bottles over safety issues

For many of us, a reliable travel bottle is a daily companion.

These long-lasting bottles are built for both morning coffee and refreshingly cold water after a day under the sun.

A recent notice shook people's trust in a popular travel brand, prompting a widespread recall of some of their popular products.

Stanley, a brand famous for their durable drinkware, recently issued a recall for several travel bottle models due to a potentially dangerous defect.

The recall specifically targeted the Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs.

These stainless steel, double-walled mugs could keep beverages hot or cold for extended periods.

However, the issue lies in the mug's lid.

'The lid can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach during use,' Product Safety Australia wrote in the official recall notice.

This shrinkage could pose a serious risk of hot liquid burns to the user.

The mugs affected by the recall were sold between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2022.

The widely publicised recall notice has also reported several incidents worldwide.

Some incidents have unfortunately resulted in injuries that needed medical attention.

It's a stark reminder that even the most trusted brands could face unforeseen issues with their products.

Owners of the Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs need to check their bottles immediately.

They may check their product's identification number on the number and cross-check it with Product Safety Australia's list of affected products.

Stanley advised the affected bottle owners to stop using their mugs immediately.

Affected Stanley bottle owners should receive a replacement lid for their mugs early into the year.

For more information about the recall, Stanley users may reach out to Stanley through their website.

So, if you own any of the mentioned Stanley travel mugs, take immediate action to keep yourself and your loved ones safe from potential burns.
