Pro cleaner shares method on how to properly clean window tracks: "Thank you for this!"

Many of us put off cleaning windows for as long as possible (or is it just us?), and when you finally get around to cleaning them, you realise it's not just the glass that needs to be cleaned, but the window tracks as well.
They're usually neglected and allowed to accumulate a lot of dirt, dust, and other gunk over time, especially the narrow window tracks which make cleaning even more difficult and time-consuming.
When it comes to the majority of cleaning tasks, the first thing that comes to mind is to wipe the surface with a damp cloth; however, a professional cleaner has a far better idea that will speed things up.
In a recent video uploaded to TikTok, the founder and owner of The Big Clean Co., Kacie Stephens, demonstrated how she cleans the window tracks of her clients.

Here's how she does it:
First, Kacie suggests using a dry toothbrush to scrape the window tracks in order to loosen any debris that is particularly tenacious. After that, she wipes the surface off and sprays it with her favourite cleaner, after which she uses a vacuum cleaner to remove any remaining loosened dirt.
She went on to say that you should continue doing and repeating these steps until your window tracks are completely clean and spotless.
Kacie's followers agreed that cleaning window tracks is a tedious task.
One viewer even commented and expressed her embarrassment at not having considered the first two steps suggested by Kacie.
"Thank you for this! They really do suck. Same with sliding door tracks," wrote another follower.
According to the folks at My Home Clean, one of the first things that you should also consider is checking for any mould growth in your window frames.
Condensation and mould growth are frequently caused by temperature differences between the outside and inside of the window (or even exposure to steam). Mould will most likely grow on your window sills if proper ventilation is not provided.
Follow the steps below to combat nasty mould growth on your windows.
- Put on protective gear like a face mask and gloves before you start working.
- Scrub the areas that have mould with a toothbrush that has been dipped in a window cleaner solution of your choosing.
Hydrogen peroxide should be used for mould growth that is severe. It's an anti-fungal solution that's been found to be highly successful at getting rid of mould in various settings.
You can utilise more natural choices such as a vinegar solution (like the one recommended in one of our articles), which should offer the same outcome. - Use a damp sponge to wipe down and thoroughly clean the window frames.
- Repeat the process as many times as necessary until all of the mould on your window frame has been removed.
