Pro cleaner can’t get enough of this $5.29 Bunnings item: 'Get yourself one of these'

Shower cleaning, much like cleaning in general, is one of those essential household chores that nobody likes, but it's necessary for a clean and healthy home.

No matter how often you clean your shower, however, any scrubbing you do may not be enough to get rid of all of that pesky soap scum and grime.

That's why it's important to have the right tools in your cleaning toolkit — but with so many different products on the market, it can be hard to know which one will give you the best results.

Well, one professional cleaner may have just the thing for you.

Kacie Stephens of The Big Cleaning Co. recently revealed one of her favourite cleaning tools — and the best thing about it? It costs just $5.29 from Bunnings.

The way Kacie puts it, the Oates Premium Light Duty Corner Scrubber is suitable when it comes to cleaning those tough nooks and crannies in the shower where the dirt can hide, without scratching your glass.

'I know some of you (and some in my own team) are going to say you L.O.V.E a Scrub Daddy, but personally, I love a scourer on a handle! Especially these Oates ones that are pointed – perfect for getting into corners,' Kacie said in a recent post.

‘They are listed as being approved for use on glass, tiles, ceramic, wood trimmings, basins, as well as fibreglass and plastic swimming pools.’

‘(It’s) super handy for deep cleans,’ she said later on.

Now while she did mention the brand Oates, she also said that similar products can be found in supermarkets and hardware stores.

Buying a handy scrubber is one thing, but maintaining it long enough for you to say you got bang for your buck is another.

One user asked the professional cleaner how she cleans her scrubbers after use, and she responded.

‘We clean them the same as a grout brush, hot soapy water,’ Kacie said.

‘Sometimes they go through the washing machine too, depending on how bad a (cleaning job) was. They last a pretty good amount of time for the $5 that they cost, I buy each full-time team maybe four a year.’

About three months’ use for a professional cleaner? Not bad, wouldn’t you say?

Another user asked something you’ve probably thought of too: When is it time to clean?

‘It’s actually very easy to tell when a “cleaner isn’t cleaning anymore” because the end result will mean residue, streaks, remaining grime and dull surfaces,’ Kacie shared. ‘You can’t hide that difference.’

Other followers of Kacie sang praises for the scrubber, with one commenting that they've been using it for years.

'So easy to use,' they said.

‘Thank you for sharing,’ another added.

While a third said ‘Yes! I need one!’

Another professional cleaner also gave the scrubber a glowing recommendation last year.

Key Takeaways
  • Professional cleaner Kacie Stephens loves the Oates Premium Light Duty Scrubber, available at Bunnings, for cleaning showers.
  • Other brands offer similar handled scrubbers for bathroom cleaning too.
  • Kacie recommends cleaning brushes with hot, soapy water when they start leaving residue and grime on scrubbed surfaces.
