Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s statement on the Ukraine-Russia conflict stirs controversy on social media — “What a joke!”

Social media users have mocked the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over their remarks on the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

Any guess as to what the fuss is about?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a statement on the conflict, saying that the Sussexes "stand with the people of Ukraine" and condemning the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin on their website Archewell.

The statement read: "Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and all of us at Archewell stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same."

While the Sussexes have no ill-intent on releasing the statement, a number of social media users slammed the estranged royal couple over their statement, with many questioning whether the couple will donate money to the civilian casualties.

One person wrote: "Is Archewell going to be donating money to help civilians of the Ukraine crisis? They are in humanitarian need right now!"

One sarcastic comment read: "Harry and Meghan have condemned Russia and expressed support for the people of Ukraine from the safety of their £11million California mansion via a statement posted to their website."

"This will stop Putin's war machine."

Others took to Twitter to share their sentiments on the Sussexes' statement, labelling the move as "attention-seeking".

One user said: "What a joke. Are they speaking for the UK or America? Or just jumping on for attention."

"Harry and Meghan have spoken. Putin, the Russian president, is now scared LOL," another wrote.

A third quipped: "Phew, that's that sorted then."

"Putin will immediately recall the military and send them back to their garrisons. Thanks for that Harry and Meg, you saved us all. We owe you one!"

Meanwhile, others pointed out that the other members of the Royal Family have not commented on the matter, saying that it is "too political for the royals".

While a number of Twitter users mocked Harry and Meghan for their statement, others showed their support for the estranged royal couple.

One person wrote: "Good for them, Harry and Meghan are absolutely right to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine."

"Why shouldn't Harry and Meghan make a stand on Ukraine? They are as entitled to say something about the situation there as anyone else," another quipped.

Everyone is entitled to air there views on such matters. My personal view is they are correct in doing so. My opinion doesn't carry much weight but their view does. Wake up world to what's going on and put yourself in the shoes of the Ukranian's. We need the free speaking world to speak out and demand all manner of measurers to stop Putin (Hitler) in his tracks

Prince Harry and his wife are, from their own choice, private citizens. They voluntarily put their royalty aside to be able to assist others in their own way. Which they do. If the communication had come from Mr and Mrs J Doe what would have been said? I suggest the comments would be along the lines of, "we agree with you. The invasion is wrong, illegal and comletely unforgivable. How can we assist?"
Then why do they continue to use their royal titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex? If they’re private citizens they’re Mr and Mrs Windsor. I’ve never known them refer to themselves as simply Mr and Mrs.

They are entitled to express their viewpoint but NOT under the title of DUKE & DUCHESS - they gave up ROYAL duties!
So what, most people knowing them, highly value their comments. Who gives a stuff about titles obviously it's important to a few but to the world at large, titles are irrelevant. The world is seeking comment from those who can be influential and that's certainly not you or me.

Because I’m disabled, I spend my days online keeping up with everything going on in the world, both politically and socially. It’s a funny thing, but every single comment about Mr and Mrs Windsor that I’ve ever read - and it would be more than a thousand - have no time for them or their opinions. The American social climbers and wannabes hang on their every utterance, but serious commentators find it impossible to take them seriously.

I think everyone needs to chill out and calm down over the markles. I’m not a fan of them but their comment was harmless and supportive. Call it what you will but at the end of the day they do have the media on hand

Good on them for speaking out. I like Harry and Meghan. Harry is his mothers son and she would be proud of him for speaking out. Too many people just think it is okay to try and pull others down.
If anyone is trying to pull others down, I would suggest you take note of Harry and his terrible comments about his family. He certainly is the spare wheel led by that actress. I wonder if he will everwake up ??

Well I don't like anything much about the way these two have behaved, but to make a statement against Russia's invasion of the Ukraine, doesn't sound a bad thing to do, many people would have been saying the same. It would be more believable though if they stumped up some cash.
How does anyone know whether or not they have sent cash?
