Prepare to be SHOCKED by the 'saucy scene' in these hotel photos: ‘Looks like we’re intruding’

Here at the SDC, we’re no strangers to odd sights that would leave many blushing and clutching pearls in embarrassment.

We’ve seen X-rated everything, it seems, from cakes and drawings to toys

And now, the most recent addition is a hotel room advertisement!

No, the ad wasn’t for the kinds of hotels known for, er, romantic pursuits charged hourly.

It was for a serene getaway nestled in the mountains of Switzerland.

You see, Booking.com, a popular travel booking service, thought to promote Hotel Zeit & Traum on its Facebook page.

The hotel is located in Beatenberg town, which is about an hour’s drive away from the Swiss capital Bern.

Many social media users were treated to the hotel’s picturesque views inside and out, with the exteriors of the hotel blending in nicely with the Swiss countryside through the log cabin-like aesthetic.

Inside the hotel, rooms are meticulously furnished with some featuring homely marble-and-wood themes and others going for a more modern minimalist and chic look.

But it was one room in particular that stole the show.

The most striking thing about the room aptly called Chateau d’amour — which roughly translates to ‘castle’ or ‘house of love’ — was its colour; noticeably, red was the overarching theme of the place, complemented by dark brown furniture that just made the whole room give off a vibe of passionate nights filled with romance.

The room has a painting of the biblical pair Adam and Eve hung on one wall, and ‘Leda and the Swan’ — a tale where Zeus seduces Leda in the form of a swan — on the other.

In between the two is a large four-poster bed decked with crimson sheets and a cream-coloured bed.

On the bed, however, appears to be a woman whose legs were positioned in a very intriguing way…

But, of course, the eyes do play tricks especially when the mind is set on such a visual feast as the hotel!

A different angle shows that what looked like a woman was a beige-coloured duvet artistically folded into a swan — perhaps a nod to the Greek-inspired painting just beside the bed.

Many people who saw the post also came to the realisation, but it didn’t stop them from sharing their thoughts on the surprising sight.

‘I had to do a second glance … who is in the bed?’ one person joked.

Another added: ‘Thought someone had their legs up.’

‘Looks like we’re intruding,’ a third said.

And another added cheekily: ‘You’d think they’d make sure the most recent guest had left the bed before they photographed the room.’

Others — almost begrudgingly — lauded the convincing display as well.

‘I’ve heard of napkin swans but that’s going a bit too far.’

Key Takeaways
  • Social media users were shocked by a saucy sight on a hotel bed in one of Booking.com’s recent Facebook posts.
  • A woman appeared to be lying with her legs raised in one of the pictures, but it was actually a peach-coloured quilt folded peculiarly.
  • The bed was in a room that features artworks depicting Greek mythology and the Garden of Eden.
  • The room retails for $730 per night, according to reports.
Whoever arranged that swan should put on an art exhibit… Kidding!

On a more serious note, Hotel Zeit & Traum has mostly positive reviews being noted as ‘Superb’ on Booking.com’s main website.

A glance at the comments reveals many satisfied customers leaving glowing recommendations.

‘This was a great experience. If you are in Switzerland, this is the hotel to visit,’ one review read.

Another reviewer said: ‘(This is) one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.’

Others had similar views, with one even calling the hotel ‘paradise’.

But if you think you’d like a peek of your own, it comes with a price tag of around $730 a night, according to reports.

If that amount has you thinking of ways to save up on hotel expenses, maybe you could try this hack to get more bang for your buck by getting a free upgrade!

Then again, it seems hotels have been struggling recently as according to two hoteliers, they’ve been victimised by a practice they call ‘legalised theft’.

So, what are your thoughts on this Swiss hotel’s eye-catching Chateau d’amour? Would you be willing to fork out $730 for a stay at the hotel if you had the chance?

I think they have tried to copy The Red Room from 50 Shades Of Grey although this room is so ugly and very tasteless.

Although it is clever what they did with the blankets reminds me of the rabbits they make on cruise ships.

I personally wouldn't pay $750 for a room.

That's done intentionally to attract honeymooners or other visitors wanting a romantic, (very) short getaway. The boudoir-look of a French brothel in the mid-late 1800s, as those in paintings by Henri Toulouse Latrec, depict the high price of his work as well as the room. A blast in the past for a night or two is quite titillating... if you can afford it.

We were in a hotel room in Darwin many years ago and they had posters on the bedroom walls of brothels and sexy girls. It was a budget hotel so maybe we had to be the "workers" . Didn't pay $750 though. Looking back at it now I might have been able to make a few bob 😂 😂 😂 😂
