Powerlifter catches alleged Peeping Tom red-handed: ‘I’m not gonna let him escape’

A powerlifter turned neighbourhood watchman has brought an alleged peeping Tom's reign of unease to an abrupt end.

For months, residents of Creekwood Avenue in Sunshine Coast had been living with the unsettling feeling that someone was lurking in the shadows, watching them through their windows.

The mysterious figure, dubbed the ‘Creekwood Ave Creeper’, had become an unwelcome spectre in the community, causing concern and fear among the locals.

Powerlifter Tim Nickson had a particularly close encounter with the alleged voyeur when he entered Nickson's home about six months ago.

The incident left Nickson and his neighbours on high alert, with many reporting sightings of the man sneaking around and peering into homes after dark, captured on their home security systems.

Nickson recounted the chilling moment he realised the intruder was back.

'I went out my door to put laundry on the clothesline, and he's just standing there looking at me,' he said.

The man fled, but not before Nickson resolved to take action.

'Police told me we can't get him, we can't ID him, you have to do something about it,' Nickson explained.

'And as harsh as that sounds, they're right, man. You have to step up, you have to protect your family, and you've got to serve your community, right?'

Determined to safeguard his home and neighbourhood, Nickson installed motion-activated security lights and fence spikes.

His preparations paid off last Friday when the alleged peeper made the mistake of returning to Nickson's property.

'I see this bloke creeping in the window, and I just think to myself, “Man, I've been hunting this bloke for months, I'm not gonna let him escape tonight,”’ Nickson recounted.

With adrenaline coursing through his veins, Nickson confronted the intruder with a roar, 'You b*****d, I'm gonna catch you!'

He chased the man down the street, eventually catching up to him.

'I grab him by the shirt, and I slam him to the ground, and I say to him, “This is a citizen's arrest,”’ Nickson said.

The police have since charged a 28-year-old man with trespassing, thanks to Nickson's courageous actions.

I’m sure the peeping Tom will be out on bail and will continue to do it. He will probably just move areas. Hopefully next time someone catches him they will accidentally break his legs or something so he really gets the wind put up him.
