A new safety recall is making waves, with thousands of vehicles potentially affected by a fault that could pose serious risks on the road.

Owners are being urged to act quickly before a hidden issue turns into a dangerous one.


Ford has issued a recall for certain Transit Custom cargo vans and Tourneo people movers due to a potentially dangerous defect in the passenger airbag inflator.

According to the official recall notice, a manufacturing issue could cause the airbag inflator to rupture if the airbag deploys.

This isn’t just a minor hiccup—if the inflator ruptures, compressed gas and even metal fragments could be propelled through the airbag cushion towards the vehicle’s occupants.


In the worst-case scenario, this could result in serious injury or even death. Alternatively, the airbag might not work at all, which is equally concerning in the event of an accident.

How many vehicles are affected? Ford has identified 47 vehicles produced between 2023 and 2025 as being at risk.

While that might sound like a small number, every single vehicle matters when it comes to safety.


If you’re unsure whether your vehicle is included, Ford has provided a list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs)—you can check this list to see if your car is on it.

If you need help finding your VIN, it’s usually located on your registration papers, inside the driver’s door, or at the base of the windscreen.

Ford is urging all owners of the affected models to book an appointment with an authorised Ford dealer as soon as possible.
