I think, in general, yes (Aus); but I also know of some who are respectful to all others including elders.
For 23 years I lived and taught at a large international school in Thailand & recognized that nearly all students (approx 30% Thai, 30% Asian, 30% western) showed considerable respect for everyone no matter age or any other position! Traditionally, Thai children also show appreciation to their parents during special days in T

Having already replied, I thought about it a bit more. I do believe it is up to the parents to instill in their children respect for everyone. I think the older they get the more outgoing they are. They should learn respect at an early age. Some parents are hopeless, this enables them to get in with the wrong crowd. Respect for each other is so important for a stable home life.

Our younger generation are ‘different’ and that’s ok. I have no doubt that when put to the test they would come up trumps. If we as mature adults have taught our children and their children good values then of course the younger generation will exhibit similar. If we as mature adults are looking for our younger generation to behave and think as we did it’s an impossible ask because time changes so many aspects of ourselves. Really, it’s too difficult to measure and it’s not advantageous to compare. We have such bright and intelligent younger people in our world and I’m not at all afraid to leave the world in their hands 😊
