Playing the recorder​

Who here fondly remembers playing the recorder when they were young? Did your parents buy you one, or did you get it in school during music class? How did you fare with it—were you a natural, or did it take some practice?

Regardless, we can all agree that the recorder introduced more kids than ever to the joy of playing music! Do you still have yours tucked away somewhere? I never played at school, but learnt at teachers college. I still play and enjoy teaching it to other seniors.

I didn't get to play the recorder at school as my Mum couldn't stand the sound of them, particularly as a newbie practising. I guess that might be why my music career stalled!

Yes, but I didn’t play a lot. Loved the wood in them, my elder sister was very good at it.
