Panda-monium unfolds outside this newly opened retailer! What happened?

Going out for errands should be a mundane and safe task, especially for seniors.

However, a recent incident at a discount store became a reminder of the dangers that lurk in the most unexpected places.

The tranquillity of Cranbourne's Panda Mart store was shattered by a violent confrontation, which left locals reeling.

The calm of the popular discount store was disrupted at 11:05 am, Wednesday.

A group of armed thieves attempted to flee the store with several unpaid merchandise.

The situation quickly escalated when a security guard asked the individuals for a receipt.

The response was anything but routine.

Security guard Ujjwal Vasudeva recounted the harrowing experience in an interview.

'As soon as we asked them for receipts, they took a crowbar out of their buckets, and they're just going to try to hit us,' Vasuveda shared.

The thieves, wielding crowbars and metal rods, made violent threats towards the guard.

'One statement was, "We're going to kill you,"' Vasuveda added.

Amidst the chaos, customers also intervened in an attempt to help stop the thieves, including an individual armed with a guitar.

The chaotic scene was captured on video and showed a security guard tackling one of the culprits to the ground.

Despite the efforts of security and courageous customers, the confrontation took another dangerous turn.

The offenders, initially fleeing in a white van, returned to take their accomplice back.

The footage showed two men, armed with a rod and a crowbar, jumping out of the van.

The crowbar brandished by the assailants still bore the Panda Mart sticker, which indicated that it was likely stolen from the store.

Faced with the escalating violence, Panda Mart's security staff decided to let the man go, and the group managed to escape.

Since its debut on Australian shores, Panda Mart has found itself in several headlines.

The store's opening week saw hundreds of people lining up, which needed police intervention to manage the crowds.

Shoppers queued for hours, with tensions escalating as people pushed and shoved to get inside, leading to scenes of mayhem that were captured on video.

Safety concerns about their products have been raised as well.

Energy Safe Victoria recently issued a warning about potentially deadly table lamps sold at Panda Mart.

Consumer Affairs Victoria has already seized thousands of products that failed to meet safety standards.

I don't think security guards have enough rights. They are not allowed to carry a weapon on patrol like they used to.
