Palace buzzes over royal couple's surprise Easter absence: 'This is a big deal'

The royal family's Easter traditions are well known for their history and public celebrations.

This year, however, a notable absence raised eyebrows as a prominent couple chose to skip the usual service in favour of private family time.

The decision has sparked speculation among palace insiders.

According to a source speaking to Us Weekly, the absence of the Cambridges from the Easter service was not taken lightly within the palace walls.

'This is a big deal,' the source said.

'It's royal tradition for the family to attend this together. Everyone understood the family not attending last year when Kate was sick, but there’s been a lot of raised eyebrows at the palace about William’s decision to skip again this year. It feels like a deliberate move and even a snub.'

The couple reportedly spent their Easter weekend in Norfolk, a decision described as a way to cherish the time before their children returned to school.

While some may view this as a simple preference for family intimacy over public duty, others within royal circles are interpreting it as a pointed message, a deliberate distancing from royal protocol.

The speculation around Prince William's intentions comes at a time when the Duke and Duchess have been reported to focus on strengthening their family bond and spending quality time together.

Another source told The Sun about the couple's commitment to each other, especially in light of Kate's recent health struggles.

'William has been incredibly supportive through Kate’s cancer battle—he’s really proven himself to be a remarkable partner when the going gets tough. His big focus has been on making the most of their time and this second chance at life together.'

The couple's plans for the future seem to be centered around creating more personal moments, with romantic dinners, long walks, and holidays.

They are even considering a return to the Seychelles, where they honeymooned, for a romantic getaway just for the two of them.

While the palace may be abuzz with whispers of a snub, it's essential to consider the pressures of being in the public eye and the need for balance between public duty and private life.

The Cambridges' decision to prioritise family time during Easter could be seen as a modern approach to royal life that values personal well-being and responsibilities.

As the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continue to navigate their roles within the royal family, it's clear that they are also carving out their path, one that respects tradition but also acknowledges the importance of family and personal time.

Whether this move was a deliberate statement or simply a personal choice, it highlights the ongoing conversation about the role of the modern monarchy and the expectations placed upon its members.

They have a right to be together, their children and each other are rightly so their focus, especially since Catherine's health issues.

Everyone goes poor Charles, his cancer struggle has taken a toll on him, prostate psst. He has not gone through what she has and there is also the chance it will pop up again. Ovarian cancer is a silent killer, often it is found too late for the patient, it was like when the Princess said they had not released any details because how do you tell your children you have cancer and tell them not to worry when the media is plastering all the bullcrap all over the place. Yes these young royals are more family focused than their forbearers, it makes them human, and realistic.

I can fully understand the Royals wanting to scale back due to family & health reasons. But they are also trying to juggle with the overwhelming outcry from people who say there is no more need for the Monarchy.
I don't live in the UK but my country still has attachments to the Monarchy. And I can tell you I would rather have them as a figurehead than the likes of Putin or Trump.

Easter and Christmas is a time for family good on them.

William and Catherine have been shown that life can be cut very short and they are making the most of family time in their extremely busy schedules and should the worst happen and William becomes King in the near future these times are going to more rare so need to be seized now. Good on them and definitely gives their children a far better foundation for life going forward. I say go for it and to hell with what anyone thinks.

I think media needs to stop speculating, and if there is this type of gossip in the Palace, then order needs to happen

She just got over cancer, and I think a huge wake-up call at what's important. Spending time with family is so important and I'm pretty sure Kate was too sick last year to have celebrated Easter.

If tradition is too change then so be it.

Who says the Royals need to attend the Easter service together. Times do change and I'm sure they will be back next year

Where's the big deal?

More like "no deal".

Many times people, all people, will rethink their priorities when they or family are affected by a serious illness or any seriously negative situation. If not before, they appreciate that life is precious and tradition is less so.

Nowdays we have problems with Easter, Christmas and other family functions, why would they be any different, is this realy our business?!

Damned if they do and damned if they don't. Someone somewhere is bound to take offence no matter what they do so they may as well do what brings them pleasure and bugger what anyone thinks.

My missus came home and said to and said to me "What's happened to the gate" I told her that someone had pinched it? She "Why didn't you say something" I told her I was worried they might take offence?

i think it is journalists and the like that make the big deal of everything. they were not absent they were with their family. is that not what most do?

the Royal family was still represented. Every last one of them should not be expected to forever give their family time over. If they were the only ones, then maybe they should have gone.

Perhaps they did not wish to put up with Camilla "the queen - not" - I am sure there are times that William would like to get stuck into the woman and even his weak father. I know it is water under the bridge but sometimes the loss of his mother would really get stuck in his craw - to the point where he needs to float in his own surrounds with just his chosen family members beside him.

The Royals are The Prince and Princess of Wales. Not Kate Middleton, not the Cambridge's any more. I feel articles like this one are so disrespectful.

Its simple, you cant have all the royals in one house at one time due to safety issues.
Ones kingdom and lineage must be protected.
Where was Anne and her family, not that she is part of the lineage or mentioned.
