Maybe try a pharmacy. I now work at Chemist Warehouse. They were happy to employ me after some of the younger ones didn't work out.
I love my job, you get to chat to customers as you serve them. Meet some very nice people. Some not so nice too, unfortunately.

Hospitals : firstly look for Ward Clark’s hours can be flexible full time part time casual and they would teach you the computer side of things, saying that it would pay to have some computer knowledge, also you have Catering and Cleaning departments and Hospital and Health Services which they do inductions before you start plus the money is very good just look into it.

I tried letter box delivery. Small wages, but good exercise. Chose my own small size area. Vehicle? Meal and grocery delivery. Choose your times..pet sitting or walking..

Coles bunnings etc looking for people but you must to be able to be on your feet for extended periods. Also if you can work weeke ds will be a boost to your chances. Im 78 and coles sent me a invitation to apply for a position (based on an earlier applicatioon)

Best wishes! If you live in a city area as others have said try supermarkets or Bunnings - especially if you know about paint or gardens. Supermarkets tend for juniors but you ne3ver know unless you try!!!

I guess it depends on things like where you live, population etc. Where I am there are always ads outside shops, cafes etc looking for casual staff.

Have you tried Bunnings, I've noticed quite a few seniors at the two Bunnings stores I frequent.

It's so sad that you find yourself in this situation. This and previous governments should hang their heads in shame that pensioners are left with barely enough to survive on, while they hand out help with cost of living relief to just about everybody else but pensioners.

Have you tried Coles Wollies Kmart in my local area there are many older people. Also babysitting is a great way to earn money the babysitting who looks after my grandson is 82 good luck my best wishes are going your way

I'm in much the same situation with my partner in a nursing home and though I can't suggest any paid work unfortunately, I find turning down the gas hot water system to very low and only heating it up for an hour at off peak times so that it's hot for when i need it, like showering in the morning or dishes later on, can actually cut the gas bill down a fair bit & thus, saves some money for other expenses. I wish you the best of luck with your endeavours for paid work & strength in these hard times

If you have a lot of things you haven't used in a long time, try selling some at car boot sales in your area or a local market. Have a garage sale at home or share one with your neighbours. At our age many of us have lots of things we don't use any more.

It can help save money or pay down quicker. Also try to pay more than the minimum payment as you will only be paying the interest. All the best to your husband, I know only too well how this feels.

Also, with Hubby in nursing home, watch his medication account closely. My husband's account nearly doubled out of my care. When he went to hospital the blister pack tablets would become out of date, so would be thrown and re-ordered. When I discovered this, I insisted they use the blister pack and re-date it and I would sign it for their protection. The chemist was making a fortune. At one stage they had 12 Ventolin puffers in his medication draw.
