Over 215,000 households eligible for financial support as minister urges everyone to apply

In the Land Down Under, where the sun scorches the earth, and the cost of living seems to rise like the mercury on a hot summer's day, there's a glimmer of hope for Australians grappling with their bills.

The state government supports eligible households with low or fixed incomes.

But time is ticking, and the end of the year is fast approaching, so it's crucial to act swiftly to claim this treasure chest of relief.

This advantage of the support available before the 31st of December 2024 deadline.

Over 215,000 households will be able to access these household concessions.

The concessions range from payments for cost-of-living relief to energy, water, sewerage, medical heating and cooling, and the emergency services levy.

However, it's been reported that thousands of eligible households, potentially including older South Australians, families, single parents, or people with disabilities, have not yet applied for these concessions.

Human Services Minister Nat Cook has highlighted the struggle many low or fixed-income households face with the rising cost of living.

'We know about a quarter of households in South Australia already access the range of concessions including cost-of-living, water, energy and sewerage, but many more households would be eligible,' Cook said.

The government is offering these concessions and extending free public transport to all people with Centrelink Health Care Cards from 1 January 2025.

For families, the Sports Voucher program will provide two $100 grants in 2025 to help cover the cost of kids' extracurricular activities. Additionally, the materials and services charge subsidy will be doubled to $200 per child for government schools from 2025.

Eligibility for these concessions generally requires holding an eligible concession card, receiving an eligible Centrelink payment, or being low-income.

This can include the pensioner concession card, veteran gold card, low-income health care card, and commonwealth seniors health card.

Centrelink payments that may qualify include JobSeeker, Youth Allowance, Parenting Payment, Special Benefit, and ABSTUDY.

Applying is straightforward–you can do it online or phone the Concessions SA hotline on 1800 307 758 to have an application posted.

Don't let this opportunity slip through your fingers; it's time to unlock the treasure chest of relief and ease the burden of those bills.

Please stop with the mystery headlines. Could have added SA so anyone not living in that state doesn't need to read all the drivel only to find they are not eligible

I think that the headline "over 215,000 families are eligible" is a pretty big hint that it wasn't everybody.
These type of concessions always apply to individual states.

Google Pensioner Concessions provided by NSW Government.
These type of concessions are provided by your State Govt and some states are more generous than others. Many people are not aware that these type of concessions exist
Thank you for this post. S.A is finally catching up with concessions other States have been providing for years, Victoria included.

It's about time. I lived in South Australia a few years back and their lack of concessions was a shock after going there from WA
I rang to apply for the concessions I had been used to in WA to find they didn't exist. The only concession they had was a cost of living of about$120. In WA we receive this concession through our Seniors Card, along with many others from our State government.
I'm glad for SA pensioners that they will now receive further assistance.
I lived in W.A. from 79' to 2001, my daughter still lives there with her father and fiance. I miss the place so much, it's beautiful over there and in my opinion it is the best place in Australia to live.
Sadly I can't go back anymore due to my health and because my ex and I don't get on, I stayed there for 3 days back in 2005 and it became unbearable to live with the man any longer, he was getting angrier and angrier over those few days because I left him in the first place, which is a whole other story for another time. mind you, we get on fabulously over the phone, he's even offered me no pay back loans, which iv'e taken 😂
You're very lucky to live there, it's casual lifestyle would suit anyone let alone one of us seniors ❤️

Fcuking labor!!!!! Dan Andrews and now Jacinta Allan! they have bankrupt Victoria. Crime is out of control, too many people imported from other countries, everything is super expensive. The once beautiful amazing Melbourne looks like a dump. Yet, people still vote for Labor/Greens, I can't get my head around that.... Now, just on the news, the famous MYER Christmas Windows have been cancelled thanks to the effin pro palistine activists !!!!!!!! go figure :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Why only South Australia? Centrelink / Services Australia is a Federal Government agency so how does S.A. the only State receive this extra payment?
I have noticed quite often it is NSW and Victoria that are getting some concessions to help low income households, personally each state is responsible for their areas, and obviously SA's premier and treasure is helping out the SA people.
