Over 100 car tyres slashed overnight by serial tyre slasher

In the dead of night, while most of the Kingsgrove community lay in slumber, a shadowy figure crept along the quiet streets of this typically peaceful Sydney suburb.

Armed with nothing more than a stanley knife, this individual embarked on a destructive spree that would leave residents reeling and the local police force on high alert.

As the sun rose, the extent of the vandalism became clear: 100 cars had been targeted, with 200 tyres slashed, resulting in an estimated $40,000 worth of damage.

This 'putrid act', as one victim described it, has not only caused financial strain but also a sense of violation and disbelief among the locals.

Frank Brady, a resident of Kingsgrove, woke to find his vehicle among the dozens affected on his street.

'Pretty disgusting and putrid act by whoever did it in the community,' Brady said.

Paul Tan, another victim, expressed his bewilderment at the nature of the crime.

'It just feels so silly, he just got the tyres...he didn't smash the windows or anything,' Tan said, struggling to comprehend the motive behind such a targeted yet seemingly random act of vandalism.

The financial repercussions are significant. With the cost of tyre replacement hovering around $200 each, the residents are now faced with a hefty collective bill.

CCTV footage captured the hooded figure in the act, methodically moving from car to car, slashing tyres with chilling efficiency between 2:30 and 6:00 am.

The footage showed the slasher targeting vehicles on five different streets, leaving behind a trail of deflated rubber and deflated spirits.

The New South Wales Police are actively investigating the incident, calling for anyone with dashcam vision in Caroline, Mashman, Northcott, and Vivienne Streets, or any other information, to come forward.

The hooded tyre tyrant remains at large.

In a similar story, residents of one community criticised a speed detection vehicle for damaging the grass verge.

There have also been multiple instances where mobile speed cameras have been accused of being placed in ‘sneaky’ locations. You can learn more about the story here.

My sons work college woke yesterday morning to find his whole 4 tyre's slashed.
He lives in Morgan St kingsgrove . This street isn't on the list but alot of cars also in that street were affected

Kingsgrove is the next suburb over from us. I said to my son Roselands will be next.

Maybe a year ago a few cars in our street were deeply scratched over night.

So when they catch him, hit him with the damages bill, then go over to his place, slash HIS tyres and trash his place. See how He likes it.

Do this for every vandal and criminal...PLUS jail time for re-offenders.

We are way to soft and merciful on crime.

NO GOOD BEHAVIOUR BONDS OR BAIL....within reason!

A few years ago, youths vandalised over 20 cars at the Dandenong Railway Station with a sharp implement by gouging the paintwork on a Sunday afternoon in broad daylight. A housemate's Subaru WRX was one of them with EVERY panel damaged, including the roof. CCTV provided footage which led to the arrest of two offenders. The cost of repairs amounted to several thousand dollars for the WRX.

The offenders were unable to pay compensation to the victims due to their age and employment status as they were school students. The housemate paid a hefty excess for his insurance to cover repairs after the insurer initially refused to honour the claim until the offenders were apprehended. Whether the housemate or the insurer made a successful claim through a civil claim is not known.

Why don't they have an alert signal on these cameras that goes straight to a police station!
My son fell out with his neighbour years ago and ever since his family do damage to his car when ever they can when he goes shopping and even coming into our driveway where he now lives. We have camaras now.Why are people so vindictive?

One just ponders, & raises the "?" Is the Crim a paid operator by the local tyre outlets to pick up some extra sales ?

Just a theory. Feel very sorry for the victims indeed. I also hope that this "Arsehole" is caught & is made to pay compensation to all involved.

Chances are extremely scant indeed. Someone out there knows who.
