Osteopath shares 4 tips to relieve neck pain in minutes!


Much like grey hairs, pain in the back or neck is only natural as we get older, especially now that we have been spending more of our time in front of the computer, our mobile phones or televisions.

Thankfully, there are quick fixes that we can do to relieve the pain and stiffness around our neck area.

Here, an osteopath shows us a few tips.

Health practitioners who specialise in bone and muscle tissue are commonly referred to as osteopaths, and Brendon Talbot is one of them. He is based in Canada and has been gaining popularity online for his series of helpful videos, tackling bodily and posture problems, on TikTok.

In one of his recent clips, he talks about dealing with the discomfort brought upon by a tight neck, such as headaches and a congested sinus.


Here are some exercises he recommends to remedy the pain, and you can do all of these whilst simply sitting on the couch!

For the first exercise, do this a few times. While pulling the skin above your chest downwards, extend your head towards the back. You should feel a pull around your neck area.

The second exercise involves letting your head fall forward and rolling it from side to side. According to Brendon, this decreases the cervical soft tissue restriction in the neck which can help improve blood circulation going in and out of the head.


For the third exercise: put your hands under your thighs beside you and sit on them. Then simply bend your head from left to right.

And for the final exercise, Brendon shows his viewers how to do the ‘double chin’ method. While sitting up straight, push your head straight back and intentionally give yourself a ‘double chin’, then push your head back and forward. He suggests doing this a couple of times.



In the video clip, Brendon advises his viewers that they should stop doing the exercises immediately if any pain or discomfort arises. In his profile’s bio, he also wrote that his tips should not be taken as medical advice and it’s still best to consult with a doctor.

Most of the time, neck pain is a minor nuisance that can be remedied with a few lifestyle changes (less sitting, more moving!) and maybe some gentle stretching. But sometimes, chronic neck pain can be a sign of a more serious issue that’s just not going to “clear up” on its own.
