Only 2 Weeks Left for Victorian Households to Grab their $250 Power Saving Bonus!

For Victorians who haven’t had the chance to get the $250 Power Saving Bonus from the state government, you only have until 11.59 pm on August 31 to apply!

The bonus was first made accessible on Friday, March 24, 2023, and it’s open to all eligible Victorian households, including those who have received payments under previous rounds.

It’s part of Premier Daniel Andrews’ election promise to put money back in families’ pockets and ensure they’re on the best energy deal.

This particular bonus is available to any household that compares their energy deal through the Victorian Energy Compare website. This is an innovative online tool created by the Victorian Government, aiming to help residents take control of their energy choices in a fair, easy, and transparent manner.

The website is designed to compare a range of energy providers and the deals they have on offer. By using this digital platform, Victorian households can make the most informed decision before selecting the energy deal that suits them best.

The process for applying is straightforward. All you have to do is enter your name, email address, and phone number when the form on the website pops up.

According to the Minister for Energy and Resources, Lily D’Ambrosio, over 1.5 million households applied for the bonus within the first three months of the program opening.

For those who apply electronically, the payment will drop into your bank account within two weeks.

If you need help, there’s also a helpline for those who cannot access the website on 1800 000 832.

On the homepage, an option allows you to compare offers from energy retailers. You will learn about variations in price structure, contract terms, and options for green energy, among other things.

In addition to comparing the savings, a unique feature illustrates how much carbon emissions can be reduced with different energy plans–a great nod for those aiming to do their bit for the environment.

Part of this website's duty is to maintain absolute transparency with its users. It doesn’t receive any commissions, incentives, or payments from the companies it compares. This allows users to make the best decision for themselves and their households without any fuss.

You absolutely don‘t just have to enter your name, email address and phone number. Once you’ve brought up the form there are multiple questions to fill in, from your energy bill. You can enter details manually or scan in your bill. Or you can apply over the phone. I’m not sure if you get to speak to a real person in that case. 🤷‍♀️

This energy savings bonus is supposed to be available for everybody with a Health Care Card, including the Seniors Health Care Card. I have made several attempts to register my Senior Health Care Card with my energy provider in the ACT and it has been rejected on each attempt!

I know that the ACT pays just a miserable $75 or thereabouts and not receiving this money won't break the bank, however, there is the principle involved. I'm not happy!

Much sympathy for our eastern states cousins, in WA we only have 1 power company and it is state owned. We have no need to try and find another power company to provide cheaper prices for our electricity needs, there is not another power company operating here. In the last couple of years we have received a state funded amount for power relief that is automatically included in our power bills, we do not need to apply for it, This year it was $400.00 to every household, last year $600.00. So lucky to live in this great state with a state government that refused to privatise its energy provider when other states were falling over them selves to make money from the sale of their own energy providers, I think our state government cares more for its people than other states do.
