On Dad’s Shoulders

Today’s blast from the past is something most of you would probably find endearing.

This picture, taken in 1968 at the Royal Melbourne Show, shows a two-year-old boy carried by his father. It can be seen that he’s looking for something in a Coles bag, and dear old Dad’s probably trying his best to balance himself while his son is oblivious to his father’s efforts to keep them both upright.

Do you have a similar memory to this, of your Mum or Dad carrying you high up their shoulders when you were young? (and do you still agree that ‘It’s always cheaper at Coles’...) Tell us in the comments section!

And, of course, if you have other memories you’d like to share with us, too, post them here on our Nostalgia/Yesterday’s Australia forum!
