In the world of radio, where voices are the main attraction, personalities clash frequently.

But what happens when a heated exchange escalates into a physical confrontation?

Listeners of John Laws’ 2SM radio show witnessed just that when Kyle Sandilands, the often-controversial host from KIIS FM, threw a glass of water at fellow radio host Ben Fordham during a live interview.


The incident occurred amid what was supposed to be a friendly gathering of radio legends as they joined John Laws for one of his final shows before retirement.

The trio discussed various topics for about 15 minutes when the conversation turned to the US election.


Sandilands, known for his outspoken nature, offered his take on Trump's performance, which Fordham met with a sarcastic jab:

'Of all the experts on American politics, what an honour for John Laws to have Kyle Sandilands commenting on it this morning.'

This comment seemed to light the fuse for Sandilands, who retorted with a threat:

'I’ll throw this water in your face, bitch. I don’t care who you think you are.'


Fordham, not one to back down, egged him on with a 'Well, go on, do it!' And Sandilands did just that, dousing Fordham with a tall glass of water, much to the shock of everyone in the studio.

'Oh my lord!' exclaimed a drenched Fordham, to which Sandilands replied with a warning,

'Don’t push a Brisbane boy.' Rather than being appalled, the legendary John Laws seemed to find the situation amusing.

As the interview continued, Fordham, attempting to dry off, couldn't resist taking another swipe at Sandilands, noting that Kyle was also wet but from perspiration.

The banter went on, and Laws, ever the gentleman, apologised to Fordham for the unexpected shower.

Sandilands, never missing a beat, quipped back in his typical style.


But the embarrassment didn't end there for Fordham. As he prepared to leave the studio, he lamented that he was about to meet the NSW premier, Chris Minns, who looked like he'd had an accident, thanks to the water soaking his clothes.

The next day, the water-throwing incident was still making waves.

Sandilands reflected on the clash on his KIIS FM show, expressing regret for inviting Fordham and vowing never to do so again.

He accused Fordham of acting like a 'carnival person' and being disruptive.

On the other hand, Fordham had a different take, suggesting that Sandilands needed him to liven up the show, implying that Kyle might be dull on his own.
