Old School Swings

Who here remembers piling onto these swings with a bunch of their friends? I remember the 'big kids' would stand on the backs of the swing to really get the swing moving! Then all the 'little kids' would be in the middle screaming for their lives! Gosh, we used to have so much fun on the most simple playground equipment, didn't we? We never needed anything fancy! Although I must admit, I don't miss how boiling hot those poles got in the middle of summer! :ROFLMAO: Did you used to play on a swing like this? Have you seen one still around? Tell me all about your memories here!

They’d be classed to dangerous these days for our children, and if there were any around they would have to have safety belts And the kids would be made to wear a helmet ⛑️ 😂😂 not as tough as we were when we were kids 😂😂

I just loved them, and the se-saw, and there was another swing with just 2 people, one on each end!
Monkey Bars, and single swings - that was our local park playground - and that's all you needed!
It was a great Era to grow up in! Oh yes and the massive slide!

Living opposite a park meant our family of 6 children always had a great life always had lots of playmates and fun times the boys had footy, rounders or forcing back depending on the numbers wanting to play. Playground consisted of a high metal slippery dip, two swinging boats, monkey bars for the boys to show their strength, two regular chain swings which would take you almost up to the sky, a see-saw and the biggest attraction a roundabout which was divided into sections with grab bars to hang on to. It was the job of the bigger boys to get the sppd up before jumping on, often a perilous feat which could have you dragged along if you missed your footing. Accidents were seen as normal in those days where hard dirt was where you fell in a mishap.

I considered myself Queen of the park and had my own special throne, a crossed tree branch in a high tree overlooking all the action. I could sit up in the tree with a book hidden by leafy branches, what a great life

I think thats why, back in the old days parents had more kids, so they could afford to lose a few at the local park.
