Old public phone

Yes I certainly do remember the old public phones. You had to make sure you had the coins to put in the slot, and then hope that your call didn’t get disconnected etc or you’d have to start again with another coin and phone call 📞

Yes, I remember them well. We didn't have a phone when I was young. If you were lucky enough, you would know a friend or neighbour who would let you use theirs. I had to save up my pocket money or even use my lunch money from high school so that I could call my boyfriend, who lived a few towns away. It would be dark and freezing cold, but it was the only way to keep in touch and arrange to meet up for dates. If all the windows were still there, you could shelter from the wind, rain or snow. My boyfriend is now my husband of 50yrs. We often tell our kids and grandkids what it used to be like in the ' good old days'. It's sometimes hard to believe how far we've come.
