Old movies that made you cry

There are few things better on a rainy weekend than to curl up with a book or settle into the couch and watch an old movie. Better still, if it’s a classic tear jerker. There have been some great old movies over the years that have led to me, my family and friends reaching for the tissues… Lassie Come Home and Old Yeller (sad dog stories tug at my heartstrings), Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in An Affair to Remember. These are a few that spring to mind. What movies have made you cry?

There are so many but for the life of me I can’t remember the titles so I’ll have to get back to you on this. Maybe other people who post on here will remind me. Great post 😊

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas.

The Mist.

More to come when I think of them.
Oh, The Mist! Absolutely heartbreaking ending. It’s like that scene in The Pianist where a woman is sobbing uncontrollably and saying, over and over, Why did I do it? Just gut wrenching.
I remember watching another scene in The Pianist when he was discovered hiding in the ghetto by a German officer who didn’t believe he was a concert pianist and he played… played for his life. I was spellbound, watching the actor Adrien Brody playing the piano with great intensity. He was gaunt, emaciated and his face was almost translucent. Unfortunately, I was jolted back to reality when a voice behind me said “He’s got a big nose, hasn’t he!”

Pills Talk, To Catch a Thief, South Pacific, Sunset Boulevard. Still watch some of the old movies on Netflix or u tube. A lot better than some of rubbish that is made today.

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas definitely. I was in shock at the end of that movie and it affected me for days after. I've never been able to watch it again. Probably one of the best anti war movies ever made.
It was a good movie, very sad to think what happened during the war. Have just been to the theatre to see the movie Lee, it is a true story about a war correspondent during the Second World War - well worth watching.

The Inn of the Sixth Happiness……Ingrid Bergman and Kurt Jürgens…..
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas……Such an awfully sad story but it’s also believable …..
War Horse…….This one got to me such that I will never be able to watch it again…..
