On Thursday morning, we lost another beautiful soul. The rugby league world dimmed a little after legendary NRL coach Paul Green passed away at his Brisbane home. Several of his friends have revealed that Green had not mentioned having any illnesses and have been left shocked by his sudden death.
Queensland Police rushed to Green's family home in Wynnum at around 10 am after he was found unresponsive in his garage. A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of his death.
A police spokeswoman explained that Green was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
'He was declared deceased by emergency crews a short time later,' she said. 'There are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.'

Green’s career took off with the Cowboys in 2014. The following year, he led the club to their only premiership, claiming a 17-16 victory over the Brisbane Broncos. He then quit as the Cowboys' coach in 2020 but was still highly admired in the league and was set to be an assistant to Wayne Bennett with the Dolphins in 2023.
He was seen in Sydney last weekend for a reunion with the Cronulla Sharks, where he’d played 95 games before joining the Cowboys.
'It's great to be back,' Green told the Sharks Ground Announcer, Dane Wheeler, at the time.
'It's a terrific night, great crowd and the weather is good for Shark Park, so let's hope the footy is great.’
'I've had plenty of good memories and it's great to catch up with all the old boys today, it's been a ton of laughs and really well done by the club.'

The former halfback bagged the Rothmans Medal–which is one of the sport’s highest awards–in 1995, racking up 162 games throughout his esteemed career. He also won the 2015 premiership as the coach of the North Queensland Cowboys.
Ex-Cronulla star, Martin Lang, paid tribute to the legendary coach’s death after the news circulated.
'This is so sad. Paul was a close mate. We moved to Sydney together in 1993… The beginning of an outstanding playing and coaching career,' he wrote.

The Sharks and Cowboys champion's passing is another sudden loss to the Australian sporting community, following the deaths of Australian cricket legends Rod Marsh, Shane Warne and Andrew Symonds, who is a good friend of Green's, earlier this year.
