When my daughter was around 2 and a half, we bought her a 3-wheeler bike for Christmas, I got to the lounge first so that I could take her photo. Next in line was Tango, our dog who received her favourite kibbles. Later on, I finished the roll of film and put it on top of the TV. Unfortunately, the same child got hold of the spool so no photos.

My mum always made half a dozen Christmas puddings with three penceā€™s in them. These she would ā€œ hangā€ these puddingsunder the old dining table to wait for them to mature for Christmas Day, after their first boiling. Was quite embarrassing when every one of those puddings presented was just a shell. We had lots of rats that year
Fat rats?

My favourite memory was Christmas 1970 and we had arrived in Perth on November 18th after emigrating from Ireland. Mam, Dad and 6 children, myself being the youngest. That Christmas my precious parents gave me a Bassett Hounds puppy who we named Dara. We were waiting for all our furniture etc to arrive so we didn't have much with us. We were used to a cold Christmas but Perth was hot šŸ”„ šŸ„µ However that puppy dog šŸ• made us forget everything and brought not just me but all of us so much joy and happiness. When we were sad missing our family and friends in Ireland we just cuddled Dara and everything was so much better and brighter.
I have the fondest memories of my dear old Bassett (Alfred) given by my wife as a gift when a puppy. he travelled Australia with us and lived a joyful 16 years.
