When I was a child I remember my younger brother as a baby wearing these nighties. They were very comfortable and snowy white. In those days the pride of the mothers was a line full of brilliant white nappies and baby clothes. No brilliant colours and patterns then.

My mother had a little smocking machine to make the gathers then she would embroider exquisite little rosebuds or something similar. My three sisters and zi all had little smocked dresses! Cute as….!
