Nigella Lawson’s steak has people’s opinions divided on Instagram: “Can’t wait to see it cooked”

How do you like your steak done? Rare, medium-rare, medium, or well-done? Apparently, Nigella Lawson likes practically walking around.

On Sunday, the English celebrity chef shared a photo of a steak dish on her Instagram account, and while it may look appetising to some, several others do not agree.

Her caption reads: “Forgot to post the glorious main course after the prawns last night: A gorgeous Aberdeen Angus tomahawk steak with green sauce (parsley, chives, lemon zest and juice, anchovies, chilli and olive oil); steamed new potatoes with olive oil and chives, roast onions with thyme, and castelfranco and red chicory salad out of shot.”

“And I have an old-fashioned sandwich loaf ready to make luscious sandwiches with the leftovers today!” she added.

On the first look, the cut-up steak that Nigella posted on Instagram looked extremely pinkish on the inside, especially against the contrast of the green sauce drizzled all over it. There are little brownings on the edges which suggest rare doneness. Not everyone, however, is a fan.

While no one doubted Nigella’s skills in the kitchen, several comments flooded in from people who questioned and mocked her for her choice of steak doneness, saying that the dish was “not cooked” and it’s “still alive”.

One person joked: “It’s still mooing”, along with a cow emoji.

A second person added: “A good vet could save it.”

A third person hinted at sarcasm and said: “Let us know when it's cooked.”

On the other hand, many followers who are fans of the dish commended Nigella for a job well done and asked for tips for the ‘perfectly rare’ steak.

One person wrote: “Wow! That gives me inspiration for dinner tomorrow! Thank you!” while another asked: “It looks delicious. Can you please say how you cooked it to have this way?”

Does this story make you crave for a juicy steak? Why not try this ‘perfect steak’ recipe from Aussie chef Curtis Stone? Best part is, you can cook it to exactly your liking.

I think it is perfect. I love beef blue, as cerviche or tartare. Respect that others have different preferences, but I supose that is the whole point of being asked how you like your steak cooked wjhen dining in a restaurant. We are very fortunate that we in Australia have the quality of meat and meat related processes to permit healthy consumption of our beef no matter how long it is cooked.

My hubby loves his steak rare like this one of Nigella's. Personally I couldn't face it. I really like the Curtis Stone method. It works for every taste level.

What is wrong with Nigella's steak? It looks overcooked. I like my steak Blue. "Cut its' horns off, wipe its' bum and I will eat it".

Each to their own. I like medium rare, more to the rare than medium, remembering we grew up with most of our food cooked to within an inch of its life. Vegetables were boiled for so long, you needed a spoon instead of a fork, and meat was cooked until there was charcoal on the outside.
Thank goodness we changed the way deliver food to our families so now it has flavour and keeps it nutrients.

Ugh! My brother liked his steak 'blue', but it MUST be a good quality steak to do this with. I was once served up a steak that was SO raw that the inside was cold, I gagged & I also sent it back, after all I did ask for Medium Rare. Each to their own.
