Next level barbeque: Woman discovers a genius BBQ trick found right by the river!

The barbeque is more than just a cooking method. It's a social event, a gathering point, and a symbol of the laid-back Aussie lifestyle.

But what happens when you want to enjoy the camaraderie and the great outdoors without being tethered to the grill?

A group of innovative mates from Perth have found a solution that's as ingenious as it is quintessentially Australian.

On Australia Day, a local spotted an unusual contraption on the rocky foreshore of River's Edge in Perth. She discovered a makeshift waterwheel made of yellow and blue thongs, sticks tied together to create a base, and a spit of assorted meats cooking over a fire on a rotisserie.

It’s quite a lot to take in all at once, but the bottomline is: it worked.

The river's flow and the thongs worked together to rotate the meat, allowing for a hands-free barbeque experience.

The local woman shared a video of the contraption online, dubbing it a 'genius idea' that allowed the boys to 'cook up a storm on Australia Day' without needing electricity or constant supervision.

The video quickly went viral, with viewers praising the innovative barbeque method as a ‘great innovation’ and a perfect embodiment of the Aussie spirit of 'work smarter, not harder'.

'Well done. This is what Australia is all about,' one user commented on the video.

'Necessity, the mother of invention,' another chimed in, while a third expressed a wish to be there in person 'to have a beer with them'.

However, not everyone was entirely sold on the idea.

Some viewers expressed safety concerns, warning that the method could cause pressurised steam to build up under the rocks and potentially cause them to shatter.

'Just be careful river rock holds water, and heating causes massive steam pressure within rocks, I have seen them shatter and cover people,' one person warned.
