New person but an older person
Hi everyone, hope you are all well and happy. This is my first time writing here, my name is Jill. I am ancient and sometimes do not understand what some things mean these days. Such as 'thread title' and why is a message called a 'thread' anyway. I am working on my Family Tree which is a big time-consuming occupation. Otherwise I potter around a lot, read a bit and should do more as I have a lot of books which will have to find another home in the future. Take care and stay safe.

You're definitely not alone in wondering about some of the terms we use online these days. A “thread” just means a chain of related messages or replies, like a little conversation that branches out. The “thread title” is simply the subject or heading that kicks it all off. Your family tree project sounds fascinating — such a rewarding (if sometimes tricky!) thing to dive into. And nothing wrong with a good potter and a growing book pile — sounds like a peaceful way to spend the days.
