New Member - Hello
Firstly I look forward to seeing posts from the group and thank you for accepting me as a member.
My name is Heidi. An expat Kiwi. I’m 64 in a couple of weeks, and now retired from my SAP computer software job, but my husband Phil continues the good work in the Utilities Industry sphere.
We are happily married (for 26 years) and have lived in NZ, Canada, USA, and Australia during that time. Phils work takes us all around the world and we enjoy travelling, but COVID has changed everything in the Travel world.
So we stay home in our beachside suburb of Beaumaris, Melbourne, a lot more these days.
I volunteer with the Bayside City Council and I teach our community’s interested Seniors fitness. And how to use the equipment safely and to their advantage at the newly installed Seniors Exercise Park at the Thomas Street Reserve in Hampton. Along with eight other volunteer Seniors who have been trained by NARI (the National Aged Research Institute)
The Seniors Exercise Park features a range of outdoor exercise equipment designed for older people to help improve balance, strength, functional movement, joint range of motion and mobility. The Equipment includes unstable surfaces which challenge balance, coordination and core strength.
It’s very rewarding to see our Senior visitors improve their health. They come to our Friday morning structured Classes and then can return at any time that suits them on their own, or bring along a friend and work out with them.
