New $12 ‘protein pizza’ available at Woolies!

You lot might see it differently, but to us, nothing beats a fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza for dinner. But since ordering isn’t always cheap and making homemade pizza can be a bit of a pain, maybe it’s time to appreciate a lesser-known treasure in the supermarket’s frozen section – frozen pizza!

Frozen pizzas are usually not usually on people’s grocery lists, but they sure have their special moments.

Do you need a backup meal for the family whenever you don’t have the time to shop? What about an easy heat-and-serve dinner for when you unexpectedly have guests at home? There’s nothing wrong with a good store-bought frozen pizza in these situations!

Now if you’re wondering which supermarkets are offering these wonderful late-night frozen snacks, look no further than your local Woolies!

Just this week, a new range of freezer foods have landed on Woolworths supermarket shelves, and one of them is already proving popular among shoppers.

Introducing the FroPro Protein Pizza! (Yes, the pizza is made by FroPro – the ice cream company.)

According to FroPro, the base of the pizza is made with nutritious faba bean protein, and the whole snack has 50 per cent fewer carbs as compared to a regular pizza. It also has around 600 calories and over 50 grams of protein per pizza.

Those are pretty awesome macros, if you ask us! Those are probably the reasons why the frozen snack is already flying off the shelves as we speak, given that it was just released this week.

In fact, even health-conscious Aussie personalities online have been raving about the high-protein pizza since its release!

Dylan Dower, a user from TikTok, shared a video on his account, showcasing the new Woolies product. He even described the pizza as a fix for his “2 am drunk cravings”.

The video gained over 163,000 views in a span of two days, with people commenting that they are looking forward to trying the high-protein pizza. It even attracted the attention of fellow health personalities on the platform, such as Bec Hardgrave, whom we have been featuring here at the SDC for her healthy fast-food fakeaway recipes.

One customer had already tried the pizza and they wrote: “They are sooo good!!”

“This will be a great option for that cheat meal where you don’t want to go too crazy,” another shopper commented.

The FroPro Protein Pizza is available for $12 and comes in Pepperoni, Peri Peri Chicken, and Aussie Beef and Pepper flavours. Stocks have hit the shelves this week, and more are being rolled out at Woolies stores nationwide.

As of writing, the protein pizza is not yet available on the Woolworths website.

I'll certainly be trying one of these pizzas. I try to keep a frozen pizza in the freezer at all times. They are great for meals in a hurry or if you haven't got to the shops and even just a nice easy treat for "movie nights".

I usually have at least one pizza in the freezer as a backstop, and I would love to try these but $12 each seems a little steep to me. Might have to wait for them to go on "special"!
